Liverpool goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-Reina-c29672, has no plans of parting ways with the Reds in the near future, despite his poor start to the season.
Signed by the Merseyside club from Villarreal in 2005, the Spanish International has enjoyed a splendid career at Anfield. So far, he has capped a staggering 360 appearances for the Reds, and kept 161 clean sheets during this period.
However, the 30-year old has seen a lacklustre start to his 2012/13 campaign. He spilled a simple shot during his side’s Europa League qualifier against Hearts, which resulted in a goal, and he was not up to his level best in the league matches against Manchester
City and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429.
Subsequently, some rumours have surfaced, relating the Spaniard with a move away from Merseyside during January, with some suggesting that the goalkeeper is contemplating plying his trade back in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011.
However, Reina’s representative moved to dispel all such surmises. He underscored that his client is not seeking a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 exodus, and all the news and reports of his exit were mere speculations.
“There is no problem right now. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-c29670 has played many games in the Liverpool shirt and is used to all kinds of rumours,” he told the reporters during an interview.
"It is clear he is not having an easy time because the team has not started the season well and liability is falling on him.”
The Anfield side currently find themselves tottering at a dismal eighteenth place in the league table. So far, they have managed to secure just a single point out of their first three games, and failed to find the back of the net in two of them.
Furthermore, the veteran shot stopper has failed to keep a clean sheet in all three matches.
Nonetheless, his agent insisted that even though Reina was currently going through a lean patch, he will soon hit the top gear and silence all his critics.
“This will end when he returns to form. He still has four years to run on his contract and rumours of leaving Liverpool are just that – rumours,” he added.
