Reina insists Liverpool forced him out of the club – Football News
Spain international http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-Reina-c29672 has admitted that he was forced out of the club this summer by the management. The goalkeeper reunited with his former manager Rafael Benitez at Italian side Napoli for a one-year loan and will be
playing in the Serie A next season.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 signed Simon Mignolet earlier this summer from Sunderland after reports linked Reina with a move to Barcelona. However, Victor Valdes decided to stay at the Camp Nou for one more year and the Reds were left with no option
other than loaning Reina out.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 international claimed that he only has one regret which is the way he has left the club he has served for so many years. The player claimed that the Liverpool management forced him out by agreeing with Napoli over a loan
move. The goalkeeper stated that he was not even told about the decision.
“If I have one regret, it is the way that I am leaving. It is only natural that I would be disappointed that the Liverpool management agreed to loan me to Napoli without telling me first, I thought that I deserved better than that
even though I understand that difficult decisions have to be taken in football,” he stated in an open letter to the fans.
Reina claimed that it has been said that he was considering a move to Barcelona which is why the club had to go for Mignolet. However, the Spaniard stated that he had informed the club that he would love to extend his stay if the
move to Barcelona failed.
“A lot has been made about me informing the club that if an offer came in from Barcelona that I would have liked them to consider it. But I had also spoken to the club about the possibility of extending my contract if the offer
was not made,” he concluded.
Pepe Reina is reported to join http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003, who are currently on a spending spree.
