Liverpool shot-stopper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 has rendered for the Merseyside club and believes that the midfielder can go on and cap more than 800 appearances.
The English International played his 600th game for the Reds last Sunday against Newcastle United at Anfield.
After emerging in the first team in 1998 from the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 youth academy, the 32-year old has enjoyed stupendous success in his career, becoming the skipper of both his club and national teams.
He helped his side win the FA Cup and League Cup laurels, and also guided them to a sensational Champions League triumph back in 2005.
His exceptional achievements and inspirational presence in the club has forced many into dubbing his as Liverpool’s greatest player of all times.
The midfielder may not be the player now that he used to be, but nevertheless, has still got a lot to offer to the Reds, believes Pepe Reina.
The Spanish International praised Gerrard’s meritorious services for the cause of the Merseyside club, but feels that he can still go on to lead the team for many more years to come.
He also said that the midfielder’s sound playing technique and hunger to play more can allow him to cross the 800-game mark, and he may even break the club’s record of the maximum number of appearances.
Ian Callaghan’s currently holds the honour of representing the Reds in most number of matches with 857 scalps.
“It's only a figure, but 600 games is unbelievable and the only thing we can do is encourage him even more and get him to play almost 800!,” he told the club’s official website.
“He is giving his best every day, not just on the training pitch but also in the gym and doing things to prevent injuries as much as he can. Hopefully he will be with us for much longer.”
