Liverpool goalkeeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-Reina-c29672, wants to re-establish his place in the team as a regular, following his return to action last week against Wigan Athletic.
The Spanish International suffered a hamstring injury while on international duty in October, forcing him off for almost a month. Understudy shot stopper, Brad Jones, was handed over the gloves in the 30-year old’s absence, who made the most of the opportunity
afforded to him, doing a remarkable http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 in front of goal.
Reina has had a difficult start to the season, making a couple of costly mistakes which dented the Reds early progress.
Jones, who has remained under the shadows of the Spaniard over the last couple of years, enjoyed a successful month and a half period, not ending up once on the losing side in league matches.
Although Reina was all praise for the Australian footballer for having filled in his shoes efficiently, he admitted he will need to up his game in order to secure his place in starting eleven.
He said that his morale had lifted after keeping a clean sheet on his return against Wigan Athletic and vowed to give it his best to maintain his permanent status in the side.
“I have to prove every day to myself, not to anyone in particular. I want to give my best to the team,” he told the reporters.
“I am happy with that. I will try to encourage myself to be a better keeper and that is what I am doing now.”
The 30-year old has remained a long-time servant of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809. After joining the Reds in July, 2005, he has gone on to make more than 350 appearances for the Merseyside club.
Sitting on the sidelines is something which the goalkeeper is not used to. Having not being able to take any part in the team’s outings for almost a month left him frustrated, forcing him to compare this spell to his early days at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
“Obviously it has been the longest spell [out] since I was here. I was not playing at Barcelona because I wasn't on the bench but being fit and available it has never been so long,” he added.
