Reinder Nummerdor, Richard Schuil make headlines at the CEV indoor Satellite Tournament
The 2012 CEV indoor Satellite Beach Volleyball Tournament is underway in Aalsmeer, the Netherlands.
The tournament kicked off on Wednesday, January 11 with the country quota playoffs. In the next run, the competition entered the Qualification Tournament and successful teams clawed their way to the crucial Main Draw stage on Friday. The Main Draw is supposed
to cover its length on Saturday, while the top four duos will advance to the ‘Final Four’ round.
The home duo of Reinder Nummerdor and Richard Schuil is also playing at the CEV indoor Satellite Beach Volleyball Tournament. They opened the tournament in the Main Draw and played two matches on Friday.
The internationally renowned tandem displayed incredible action on the sand court and clinched success in both of their matches. The Netherlands has a total of nine teams (two-player team) in the competition and pairing of Nummerdor/Schuil is considered
the most experienced and the finest team of them all. The duo proved its supremacy in the game and finished both matches in straight sets.
In the tournament opener, Nummerdor/Schuil crossed ways with the Austrian duo of Kunert and Petutschnig. The first set of the match was closely contested as both sides had a high level of energy and staged neck-to-neck fight. Nummerdor and Schuil perfectly
complimented each other and did not waste any opportunity to score points.
Nevertheless, the Austrian pair was also active on the net. They counter-attacked and remained hand-in-hand with the Dutch counterparts. Nothing was clear until the home duo got a perfect kill and closed first set at 22-20.
The second set also came successful for Nummerdor/Schuil as they carried the same momentum into the next frame. Besides, they had the competitive edge of previous set victory. The Austrian resisted in full force but could not avoid the chances of defeat.
Dutch team posted 21-17 in second set and declared match victory.
After making a good start in the day, the Dutch tandem overpowered Horrem and Eithun from Norway in straight sets of 21-15 and 21-13. It was an easy win for Nummerdor/Schuil as they did not face much resistance from the opponents.
The Dutch tandem has proved its endeavours in the first two rounds of the Main Draw and now they will try to maintain their dominance in the third round, which is set to take place on Saturday, January 14.
They will be challenged by their country mates, Boersma E. and Spijkers. Both teams have a similar 2-0 record in the previous matches. The next match will be the real test of their skills and the better team will get the limelight.
Let’s wait and see who wins the next important match.
