The former Bayer Leverkusen manager tips the FC Koln striker to join the Premier League side at the end of this season.
With the speculation of Podolski’s transfer to Arsenal rising, Reiner Calmund, reckons that the striker will most certainly leave Koln by the end of this term. He claimed to have met the attacker at a carnival and insisted that
the player informed him about his desire to play for the Gunners from next season onwards.
According to the reports, Arsenal are not willing to pay the 20 million Euro asking price from Koln and are valuing the player at 10 million Euros. It is highly unlikely that the Emirates side will be ready to pay such huge amount
for the striker especially with only one-year remaining on his contract.
While talking to sports publication, SPORT 1, the 63-year-old further added:
"I would bet a fortune on it [Arsenal transfer]! I talked with Lukas during the carnival. He is fixated on clubs in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749, and I believe that there is a 90 per cent chance that he will move to Arsenal.”
On the other hand, Calmund opines that Podolski will blossom at Arsenal. He believes that the 26-year-old will shine at the Emirates while playing under Arsene Wenger and alongside influential skipper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380. However,
he confirmed that negotiations are still in place and nothing has been finalised yet between the two parties.
"Nothing has been made official yet. Koln calculated a price of €20m. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, however, will not easily blow out €20m for a player who has just a year left on his contract. Arsenal are a club with ambitions and he will explode
there," Calmund concluded.
Podolski is currently going through a purple patch and his 15 league goals from 18 appearances until now makes him the stand-out player for the Billy Goats this season. The former Bayern Munich star has hardly achieved something
of note with Koln since the past two-and-a-half years and likely to part ways with the German outfit in search of silverware.
