Valery Reinhold tips Anzhi Makhachkala to take full advantage of Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez’s absence in the upcoming UEFA Europa League tie against Liverpool FC on Thursday
It looks like Anzhi Makhachkala turned the tables after winning back-to-back crucial matches in the Russian Premier League against FC Krylia Sovetov Samara and Terek Grozny respectively.
The Dagestani club were going through a torrid time as they slipped to their second defeat in the ongoing league campaign against Rubin Kazan before recording their first defeat of the UEFA Europa League campaign this season against
Liverpool FC at Anfield.
However, Guus Hiddink’s men still have a chance to avenge their defeat against Brendon Rodger’s men after winning the upcoming European group stage match against the English Premier League club at Dynamo stadium (Makhachkala) on
Thursday.
As things stand, they are at the 2nd spot on their respective group table with four points after four games while the Merseyside club sits on the top-spot with massive six points after winning two and losing one European
fixture.
And while the Reds will be without their skipper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196, and their mercurial forward, Luis Suarez, Valery Reinhold has told Anzhi to take full advantage of the situation in order to claim all three points at home.
Rodgers intends to rest Suarez and Gerrard and wants to save them for the English club’s difficult away league tie against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 FC at Stamford Bridge two days after the European meeting with Anzhi.
“The absence of Suarez and Gerrard will surely affect the outcome. They are world-class players and they have a huge impact on the team game. But I still believe that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 are favourites to win the match.”
“English football is still very conservative and Anzhi could fell victim to the furious pace of the British army.” The 70-year-old was quoted as saying.
The Russian national went on to urge http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yuri-Zhirkov-c37683 to up his game, admitting that the Russian stopper has not improved his game despite playing in arguably the toughest league in the World.
Zhirkov returned to the Russian championship after spending three-seasons at the North London club.
