Valery Reinhold has fired a barb at media who had criticized the Russian team for playing defensive football at World Cup qualifying matches against Portugal and Azerbaijan

Valery Reinhold has hailed Russia’s dream start to the World Cup campaign after collecting all possible points against their opponents, saying that people remember the winner despite losing time in thinking about which team has
played better football in the course.
The host team managed to break the deadlock after scoring from the penalty-spot in the second-half of the match despite remaining on the back foot for much of the enthralling encounter.
And while the media has criticized the Euro 2008 semi-finalists to play defensive football in the games against the Navigators and Milli Komanda, Reinhold has backed Capello to deliver the desired result irrespective of listening
to the media.
Reinhold insisted that Capello, who became Russia’s number one after replacing d**k Advocaat, made decent changes to the team which failed to reach the later stages at Euro 2012 earlier this year.
"The Russian team showed great character in the qualifying rounds of the FIFA World Cup 2014. They have played decent football and achieved desirable great result. The Russians have demonstrated good performance in the match against
Azerbaijan and Portugal despite scoring one goal only.”
“The Russians did not give up and eventually pulled out a victory. This is what I personally expected from our team. Based on what we have seen in the games against Portugal and Azerbaijan, we can say that Russia have improved.”
The Russian national was quoted as saying.
Reinhold admitted that some sceptics may say that the Russians have not shown good football after playing the matches defensively. However, he said that he strongly disagree with the situation.
He insisted that the Russian team deserves praise for their consistent performances in the tournament and urged the national team to extend their impressive run when they play the remaining qualifying matches next month.
