Reinstall OS (Read Details)

Question

Ok, well I have loads of malware on my computer and I really need to just start from the beginning and reinstall windows xp. Well, I cant reinstall it because my cd drive is broken. I was thinking that I could go on my desktop and put the OS disc on a floppy or a usb and then put it on my laptop. Is this possible? If so, then tell me how to do it. And if you cant answer that, than can you give me another solution BESIDES buying a new cd drive for my laptop? Thanks!

You can do it with a USB drive as long as it is big enough for about 500 MB. use your desktop to run the OS dics it should have an option somewhere on the interface that allows you to copy the disc or boot onto the USB.

Just make sure that you change the boot order on your laptop before you re-install. Look on the first screen that shows on boot-up wiht your laptop it should show you the key you press to enter boot or bios. F-something.

Go into the bios and change boot priority from CD to USB

hi,

pretty hard to do with out cd drive,

but if you can get an FULL OS in a folder, like download it from limewire or a torrant then extract in to a folder, than this might work so read on...

so get an OS in a folder like xp or vista ect, xp will be better for this, but vista might might work to,

put the folder in the "C" drive (with the OS in it) and then click install or something, and try and install it that way, go throw the steps and follow it,

if not do the same thing but use a memory stick and leave in pluged it put the folder on in and intsall it of that,

you should be able to do both the steps its not that hard, get someone to help you, like a PC PERSON LIKE ME
