I just reinstalled windows, and have all the drivers working for all systems, but I cannot get the ethernet driver. I keep seeing that the speedstream 4100 does not need a driver, but all the instructions I see for that tell me that putting 192.168.0.1 in the internet explorer bar will open a page, it does not do this. If anyone knows how to get the computer to recognize the ethernet controller and get internet back up, I would greatly appreciate the help.

  1. You download the drivers for your card from the manufacteror's website using whatever machine you used to post the question. Stick it on a key drive, and install on the box that doesn't recognize it's hardware.

The speedstream cable modem does not need drivers, but the network card in your computer does. The drivers will be on your system restore disks, but if you don;t have it, just google your computers model number and follow the links to the support site of whoever made it.,

If you don;.t want to bother with this cr@p anymore, download PcLinuxOS or Ubuntu, or Linux Mint. You won't be sorry.
