Ok..

Long story short:

I had a severe problem with my computer, decided to reinstall XP without knowing anything, in the beginning one of those boot menu looking things came up and asked me where I wanted to install it... I deleted these random things.. Installed XP in some place..

Everything was going ok but I noticed the screen resolution was messed up during the installation process but I thought it would go away when it was finished. It didn't and I make some accounts, tried to get my DSL back up and it said it couldn't until I fixed the resolution.

SOOOOOOO

It directed me what to do and everything and it told me to click on some stuff and anything it said to click on was unable to be clicked on.

So now I'm stuck with a useless computer with a weird screen where everything looks realy big.

By the way I reinstalled it because my comp had the BSoD and wasn't able to get into Safe Mode or Last Good Configuration to fix things and I was working on it for days and was gtting so tired of this.

Look at how many questions I posted within the last 2 days. It's rediculous.

But thanks.

  1. Ok, you need to go to the computer manufacturer's website and update the driver for you monitor. It would have gotten deleted when You reinstalled the OS. it should be in the support section

    -hoot-

  2. If you have already right clicked the desktop and selected 'properties'>'Settings' tab>and tried increasing the screen resolution and applying, and that did not work for you because the higher resolution options were not available, you will need to find and install your video driver.

-If you have a manufactured machine, use a computer with an internet connection to go to the manufacturers website and download all the drivers for your model.

-If you built the machine your self, and are using on-board graphics, go to the motherboards manufacturers site to download the drivers for the chipsets they used.

-If you have a graphics card that is not on-board, go to the manufacturers website of the graphics card, and download the drivers.

  3. Have you try:

    1. Start

    2. Control Panel

    3. Click on "Switch to Classic View"

    4. Display

    5. Go the the "Setting" tab

    6. Where it saids "Screen resolution" change it to "1024 by 768 pixels"

    7. Click "Apply" then "Ok"

  4. ok, this is my suggestion..

I assumed that you are using graphic card instead of on-board graphic. so, after you install windows xp, you need to install your graphic card's driver from the cd.

If you don't have you can download from the website or you can pull-off your graphic card and your computer will automatically detect and use your on-board graphic.

  5. Have you already installed the drivers that came with the motherboard? If you haven't then install them. If you can't find them then look up your motherboard on the manufacturer's site and download the same. After installing it should automatically detect your screen size and color. Otherwise, just right click anywhere on the desktop and go to the properties menu then to the setting tab. There you will see your screen resolution and your color quality. Change these to change your desktop to the effect that you want. Hope this helps you.
