Reja happy with Zurich win and targets last 32 round qualification: Europa League news
Lazio manager, Edy Reja, is happy with the win over F.C Zurich and has urged his players to carry the winning momentum.
The Biancocelesti laboured to a 1-0 win over the Swiss side in a UEFA Europa League encounter at the Stadio Olimpico Rome on Thursday, November 3rd, 2011. Before this game, Lazio were lying in the bottom of the Group
D and their chances of qualification to the next round were in serious doubts. Substitute, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristian-Brocchi-c9510, scored the only goal of the match in the 62nd minute.
Reja is delighted with his team’s first win of the campaign and insisted that the ‘win has come from the heart.’ The 66-year-old admitted that his team did not play well in the first half but a change in formation helped a lot
and they dominated the proceedings.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 manager praised strike duo, Djibril Cisse and Brocchi, for their impact on the pitch after coming on from the bench and believes that they changed the game.
“It was a win from the heart. We struggled in the first half, but after the break with some good opportunities we were able to break the deadlock. In fact, we went close to making it 2-0. When Brocchi and Djibril Cissè came off
the bench, the game changed.”
The Biancazzurri have had a wonderful start to their Serie A campaign and have picked up 18 points in the nine matches played so far. The Capital club is placed third in the league table and they drift league leaders, Juventus,
by just one point.
Reja has urged his players to play in Europe with the same intensity as they play in the domestic league.
“It’s true that we are different when playing in Serie A, but Europe must be respected and played with the utmost intensity.”
The Lazio boss is desperate to help his side to qualify for the next round and believes that the next two games are very important.
“Nothing is certain when it comes to qualification, but in order to go through we have to win away to Vaslui.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 will play F.C Vaslui in their next game on December, 1st, 2011.
