Reja rues 10-15 minutes barren run against FC Vaslui: UEFA Europa League news
Lazio manager, Edy Reja, is gutted with a 10-15 minute poor spell of play which cost his team three points in the group stage game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Vaslui-c39239 on Thursday, September 15, 2011.
The Biancazzurri were held to a 2-2 draw by the Romanian outfit in their opening group stage game of the 2011/12 UEFA Europa League at the Stadio Olimpico Rome yesterday. Djibril Cisse provided the hosts with a lead when he converted
a penalty kick in the 35th minute and Lazio were clearly the dominant force going to the break. However, a short barren period immediately after the resumption of second half saw Edy Reja’s men conceding two cheap goals and also saw defender, Luciano
Zauri, picking a straight red card.
At one point, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 manager added that Zauri’s
sending off really hurt his team as they struggled to carry the momentum.
Reja said, “We had that 10-15 minute blackout period in which we certainly weren’t as sharp as we had been until then. We went behind, then I must say there was a great reaction from the squad and, considering how things were going,
I consider it an important result. It’s a shame about the red card, as we struggled with a man down. We expected to get the full points.”
The former Palermo midfielder is hoping that his team will learn from their mistakes in the future games. The tactician believes that no opposition is easy in Europe despite his team being superior in the books.
“Even if Vaslui have stronger match fitness, our quality is still superior. We have to understand that no game in Europe is guaranteed. I hope we can learn from this.”
This is Lazio’s second 2-2 draw in as many games after holding defending Champions, A.C Milan, to a stalemate in their opening league game over the weekend.
