Relationship between France and Ireland ?

Question

I'm french and will travel to Ireland in September for a few months.

I'm just curious to know what irish think about french. Both bad or nice prejudice are welcome, I won't change my plans anyway ! :)

Should get a good reception.  Quite a few Irish towns seem to be twinned with french towns.

France and Ireland were once tightly allied against the English.  Like the Scots, the Irish sent their children to France to become scholars, soldiers, and good Catholics while they suffered under English Protestant rule.  In Ireland today, you'll find a great deal of places still retain French names, and family mottos are traditionally in French.  You should be warmly welcomed! :)

we love the french, don't worry.  Why do you think we would be prejudice???

Personally i love france, chamonix is one of my favourite places to visit and there are 3 Irish pubs in that small town so I think its pretty to safe to say that the french and irish are not enemies.

I think you'll be made welcome - the Irish don't really have any strong opinions on the French, as far as I'm aware. Enjoy your stay!

I'm French and I'm living in Ireland for 10 years now. We received a warmth welcome from Irish people when we moved here. They especially liked this little French accent when we speak English ;-)

In any shop or pub you'll go, if they notice you're French they will immediately start asking questions. There is loads of French people in Ireland.

All in all you will be very welcome.  Irish people like the French both individually and as a nation.

There is that thing about being a bit standoffish but that just because the French are more expressive physically and a lot of how you communicate is in a different body language.  But as long as you talk a lot that will be put aside.  Just watch the body language it will be misinterpreted as rudeness.

Positive is that the French are considered intellectual and amorous.
