  1. A relaxation massage can help.

Playing some music with sounds of water, or something like that, while laying on the floor with candles and just let your mind follow the music

    yoga could help as well

you need to find something that beings peace to you and your mind. Something you find enjoyable, everyone is different

    hope that helps a bit

  2. Take deep breaths and try to concentrate on something unimportant. Like, i think of something like the color green. Then i think of everything that is green that i can think of. (green grass, green trees, the hulk, oscar the grouch, etc.) I find it occupys my mind, and i tend to forget about other things.

  3. Ok , read this very carefully., The first thing you should do is get a physical to eliminate anything else going on physically. Provided nothing is wrong with you phyically I would then read on.

I have read the other responses and want to say that they are only temporary fix's to a larger problem . Here is what you need to ask yourself: Why are you getting these attacks? what is going on in your life that is causing these attacks? are you troubled about something?> your relationship>? a job , or something more serious>?

You are most likely getting these attacks because you have somthing bothering you down deep inside, Untill you can anwser the questions above ( only you can anwser them) you will not get a chance to handle these attacks long term.In other words everyting else you do will be only temporary. So do some soul searching and ask yourself this,... are these things worth the worry? You should also go and talk to someone who your conforatble with to be sure you talk out any issues you may want to discuss and get them out in the open. You will feel better often when you air these issues out. This will begin to get you on the right track to solving your attacks. Best of luck!

PS, Set some goals daily this will also help you,its important to have purpose everyday.

  4. When I want to relax I play with my cats, watch my favorite TV shows or a Disney movie. Listening to your favorite, upbeat song always helps change my mood.

    I hope these help. ☺

  5. I don't get anxiety attacks often but sometimes I can tell that if I don't chill out, I'll end up getting one. Usually I lie down in a fairly darkened or dimly lit room and just start taking really deep breaths. Breaths that make your chest feel like it's going to burst open. I'll take a breath and hold it for a bit and let it out slowly. It helps if you can visualize the tightness in your chest slowly pushing out with each deep breath. Sometimes I have to rely on guided meditations or on relaxation cds. The best bet is to try to figure out how you can calm yourself before they start without the use of external sources so that you can get control of it no matter where you may be. If you find that you get them often because you're stressed a lot I'd recommend trying a daily supplement of St. John's Wort. I have some caplets and a liquid in a dropper.  I like the liquid better b/c I find it works faster and I can add it to a soft drink or tea and not really taste it.

    Good luck, anxiety attacks suck!

  6. There are many far eastern methods of deep breathing that are said to be effective.

What you should strongly consider is seeing a doctor who can diagnose the problem and prescribe either medications or other treatments that can prevent those attacks.

Certainly millions of people turn to alcohol or drugs to counteract those type of feelings, but fixing a problem with a problem isn't really a fix.

Another method would be to try to objectivity examine whatever is causing you so much stress. Do you need a new job, a new partner, or a new living situation?

  7. Try to lie still while listening to soothing music.  Tense and relax each muscle in your body, one at a time starting with the toes and working your way up.  Chamomile tea before helps alot.  Also use a little aromatherapy by lighting a favorite scented candle.

  8. What happens in a panic attack, is the mind disconnects from the body, you are living 'from the neck up' so to speak.  The following is a simple, yet effective way to help deal with attack.

Place the flat of your hand over your tummy, covering the naval.  Breath in deeply through your nose, out through your mouth.  Take it slowly.  Feel your hand rise and fall with each

breath.  Feel the sensation of your hand on your stomach.  Keep breathing.  Focus on your breath, your hand, and your tummy.  Know that each drawn breath brings in fresh air and peaceful thinking, each exhale blows out the stress.  You may have to do this a few times to get control, but it will come.    The point is to reconnect to your body again, through the solar plexus.  That you stopped breathing during the attack tells you something.......breathing is the opposite of panic, breathing will help you.  It sounds simple, and it is, but is a good tool to use.

Panic attacks cause the mind to inflate things.....small things get all out of proportion and become unmanageable.  Reconnecting to your body helps to 'disperse' the energy, it allows the body to carry some of the mental stress, and to discharge it.  A B-complex vitamin is also helpful, replacing important nutrients that are lost by high mental activity.

For daily stress relief, yoga is excellent, with the added benefit of being able to see your progress rather quickly......what you can't do today, you'll be able to do by next week, or at least you'll see progress, which is encouraging.  Again, this is a 'body-mind-spirit' connection.

All  panic is based in fear.  F.E.A.R.   False Evidence Appearing Real.   It's hard when in the middle of anxiety to grasp stable thoughts, but try to remind yourself of what is real and what is panic.  If you have a 'mountain' in your life, just take it in small steps, no one can scale mountains in a single bound.  :)   Bring it down to size,  and above all,  be gentle with yourself.

Cut your caffeine intake, this is important.  I know, I know, you probably love your wake up cup and pick me up cup during the day, but caffeine will put anxiety through the roof!!  Your body may have become sensitive to the element, so do try to live without it and see if it makes a difference.

I wish the very best of luck to you!!
