Release reports: Indianapolis Colts QB Peyton Manning’s cut is tough but right decision-NFL News
With the decision on the future of quarterback, Peyton Manning, just around the corner, the player’s foreseeable release by the Indianapolis Colts is described to be the toughest and yet the right move for both parties.
Some reports earlier suggested that Colts had already reached the decision of releasing the player but would make an official announcement at a news conference on Wednesday, March 07, 2012.
This should end the uncertainty and controversy around the chances of the QB’s recovery from a neck injury and his ability to play football again for Colts or for any other team.
It also brings good news for the player, who, in spite of his explicit desire of playing more football for the team, will have an ease of exploring better opportunities elsewhere.
In addition to the lingering issue of the recovery from the injury, Manning seemed to have been preoccupied by the debate around his return to the game and Colts in the future.
Now he will have peace of mind and will be able to focus on other available options and negotiation of better financial terms.
The health issue is seen to be the main factor contributing towards the final decision of Peyton’s release by Colts, but it might not be an issue at all for the player at least.
A number of doctors and surgeons have given their respective opinion supporting Manning’s return to the game.
Besides Manning’s own doctor, an independent orthopaedic surgeon privy to the player’s recovery process and pace has also backed him to play football.
He has asked the teams interested in Manning to be patient while monitoring Manning’s health as the player is going through a dormant recovery period.
According to the surgeon, Manning’s latest status can be determined by applying trajectory of the progress achieved during past few months.
The surgeon also said that Manning was well on the course of recovery with less likelihood of reoccurrence of the injury in the future.
Peyton was seen throwing football at an aggressive pace in a leaked video recently and there are hopes that he will regain full strength and power.
Yet Colts' owner remained unmoved and less impressed with all these developments, and now the recent reports have confirmed that the management had already started thinking beyond the era of Peyton Manning.
Once Peyton is gone, Colts will be eligible to sign the top draft prize and expect him to resolve their quarterback problem.
The draft player is tipped to be Stanford College’s quarterback, Andrew Luck, who is as good in the college league as Peyton Manning in the professional one.
Given the fact that Luck is an equally expensive player, Colts consider him a permanent solution to their quarterback woes.
