The Bill for the purchases is rounded of to 2 decimal places of Rupee. The last two digits after decimal are Paise. Most of the time customer is supposed to get 50 Paise along with Ruppes as change. Manager/staff refuses to give that. If there are a 1000 bills made in a day, chances are they make about Rs 400-500, which they have not returned to the customer. This amount is pocketed by them, it does not even go to Store accounts at the end of the day. Unfortunately, on the web site of RIL http://ril.com there is no link for Customer Service for reporting such an irregularity. Reliance Industries Limited need to be aware of such practices done by their staff to cheat the customers and their own employers.

  1. My experience with many Reliance Fresh stores across India is that they ask the payment rounded off to the nearest rupee. So if it is upto 49 paisa, they ignore paisa and take only rupees. However, if it is 50 paisa or more, they take the next rupee or as you have mentioned in your question. This is in case of cash payment. If you are making payment by Credit / Debit card, they charge the exact bill amount.

You can raise your objections by calling them through their National Toll Free Number ( only by BSNL / MTNL lines) at 18002337382 and lodge your complaint.
