Relief for coughing and difficulty breathing...

Let me first say, my boyfriend is an idiot. He smokes weed and coughs up a lung. He coughs really hard, harder then old men dying. So, he smokes last night.. I am asleep and I hear him coughing really, really hard for a long time, so I get up and look at the time, it's midnight and I am pissed. He's in the shower coughing and saying he's having trouble breathing. I say DUH, stop smoking! But he's not very smart for his age... But I don't want him to die, so besides the fact that he needs to stop smoking, what can he take to help him with the coughing and the difficulty breathing..?

I wouldn't suggest over the counter expectorants until he is seen by a physician.  He could be developing COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) or have a respiratory infection.  Good luck...but let me say that enabling him is not going to make the problem go away.

why are you calling him an idiot? don't you love him? if he's an adult, what he does is his business. maybe you two should go separate ways.

He needs to see a doctor for his respiratory problem.

Smoke, no matter where it is from, consists of tiny solid particles.  He is taking these into his lungs.
