For this assignment, I have to write a 300-400 word essay on the biology, faith and religion of a specific topic I have studied. These topics are listed below... I have absolutely NO idea what faith or religion has to do with ANY of these! I don't want my homework done for me, but can you help get me started? For example, give me a topic sentence and one or two key points to work around. Thanks! :D

The topics:

Cells

Mitosis

Classification & Taxonomy

Bacteria

Algae & Protozoa

Spores, Molds & Mushrooms

Mosses & Ferns

Seed Plants

Plant Nutrition

Invertebrates

Vertebrates

Animal Anatomy

Body Systems

Digestion

Human Diet

Composition of the Blood

Nervous Systems

Nerve Functions

Human Glands

Organic Reproduction

Plant Adaptation

Animal Mix

Genes

  1. I suppose it really depends on if you go to a Christian school or not but some of these topics are points of contention in the Creation vs. Evolution controversy. Even something as simple as Classification & Taxonomy can be denied by fundamentalists. I've had Bible believing Christians tell me that humans are not mammals!

Check out the videos on you tube for a PBS documentary on the recent trial against the Dayton, PA School Board (I don't remember the name bit I think it was something like Kisselmen) You can also find a lot by googling the trial. A search on Wikipedia is another good starting point.

The reason the PBS documentary is good is because it goes into some of the scientific details (which I'm not good at remembering since I don't have a bio background). These would be good topics around which to build your essay.

Good Luck and stay focused on the real science not the pseudo science that the fundamentalists promote. They think belief is more important than the reality of the scientific method.

  2. You need 300-400 words on each topic or all of them?

Coz I could probably help with any of the plant topics, but the Human Biology ones..... I last did that 6 years ago, can't remember much.

    So? Where do we start?

  3. You could discuss how the intricate details that have been revealed to us over centuries contributes to proof of the existence of a higher intelligence which we call God.  Then, depending on what kind of class this is for, you can relate some of the above topics to one religion.  Choose the religion you are more familiar with and can ask family members or friends about.  Remember, we humans have not yet found a genius that can think up a molecule or species of living things that has existed for centuries.  Computers are not living things.

    -Journey

  4. I refer you to two sites that will have information of some of these topics in a faith based answer.  Just enter the toics in the search area.

    http://www.christiancourier.com

    http://www.apologeticspress.org

  5. Try the following site.

    He is a Christian

He is a biologist (a famous one)

    He is not a fundamentalist

    http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/questionofgod/vo...

  6. Well you can start by saying that if evolution did not happen all life sciences, including biology, would collapse.

  7. Well you -probably- can tie Composition of the Blood to the Eucharist somehow.
