  1. I would have to say for benefits(oral story telling)

    1: promotes listening

    2: attentiveness

3: just learning to sit still

4: encourages patience/ex: waiting for the story to be told

5: respect for others to speak while silent

    shortcomings(oral story telling)

    1: not telling story correctly

2: if not a good story teller

3: not a loud voice to accommodate the story

4: if story teller not familiar with the story

5: if story teller cannot engage the audience to listen/taking the floor sort of speaking...commanding attention

    benefits written story telling

1: reread your story if unable to understand what is written

2: having the time to put down if interrupted

    3: when to read

    4: where to read

5: how to read/sitting down/lying down/in a chair on the carpet in front of the fireplace etc...

short comings about written story telling

    1: not finishing the book

    2: to many interruptions

    3: lose interest

    4: having to reread

5: losing the book - lol

I have the same question for homework. xP

  3. The Sufi's have a saying, "The one who tells the stories rules." And that is pretty much true. Basically. Oral stories are much more entertaining. Especially with those who want to be entertained. It works on kids better than telling them to just read a story. Academia nuts and introverts usually like to read their stories better than having to wait and interact with others. Unless they need their bi-weekly fixes of social interaction that day.  And people bond in story tellings too. All the major religions (maybe all?) are based on story tellings. Most began as oral, then went to written.  Whether they  promote them as myths, stories, or as truth. In cultures without TV or the like, sitting down for stories is still a major part of most of those societies. Stories are the drug free escapes from reality. They are the breaks in drudgery. Even now. Also, they babysit the kids. Not just TV. TV just stands in for what used to be the storyteller. I always find it humorus most folks think we are so evolved. Technology has evolved. Life goes on. Much the same as it always has.
