Im doing a morality paper for RS on wednesday. The paper is from the OCR exam board and i was wondering how to structure my answer for part B of each question.

for example...Explain Christian attitudes to divorce and marriage?

Would i just use christian teachings or use bible references aswell, how should i structure my answer for this question to gain full marks.

  1. You get marks for giving and showing that you understand different viewpoints. Not all Christians are the same. The Catholic church will differ from the Church of England, for instance, although both are Christian churches. I would structure my answer by stating waht we learn in the Bible - whch should be the starting off point and then write a pargraph about how differnet denominations/ Christian thinkers have interpreted this. Hopefully you will have notes on all this. If not, check through:http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesiz...

  2. hey ive got my christianity short course paper this wednesday too. for the part b you have to usually explain which means like using examples from the old and new testaments in the bible. you should also use what the different churches think on the matter epsecailly church of england and roman catholic church because they usually have different opinions on things like marriage as the roman catholic church is more stricter. hope that helps.

  3. Hey! ive got mine wednesday too,  im well bad freaking out.

    I keep forgeting EVERYTHING........

yeah teachings i would agree thats what my teacher told me....

Roman Catholic and C of E

  4. Firstly, broadly outline the Xtian view of marriage today.

Secondly show how these views have their basis in Biblical teaching, quoting references.

Then outline Xtian views on divorce today

Then show how these teachings are Biblical based with references.

You should then show how attitudes have changed, i.e. become more liberal, over the years

Finally highlight the different opinions of the liberal and evangelical views in the church

  5. I did this exam a few years back and got an A*

If I remember rightly I spoke about how strict the Catholic church were, and how other denominations are slightly more relaxed towards the issue. I definitely used a scripture (don't remember which one!)

Not sure how much help that is!

  6. here's a little snippet maybe

marriage came about as a rule (probably started in the commune of jerusalem...the torah)  to stop people having multiple sexual partners creating life threatening diseases and unwanted babies  (unwanted babies were thrown out onto the streets....in those days they didnt have condoms or the pill or healthy ways to have abortions)

(and then came "love thy neighbour"

    which got abit confusing

    so they introduced

"do not covet thy neighbours wife")

this last bit i have made up with some of the facts

it was a bit of a free for all in those days in egypt (and the slaves, or gentiles learned from this and took what they learned to their new commune in jerusalem..when they exiled themselves) and there it all started...
