  1. perfectly  DIY....just make sure its sercured nice and tight, use a thicker grade wire from front to back AND make sure if it goes through the bulkhead you must isolate with rubber grommets...safter first.

  2. I'm a bit lost as to why you feel the need for more room under the bonnet and why you need an (extra) cold air feed for the air filter.

A few hundred thousand Fiestas have been built and have managed perfectly normally with the standard installation.

  3. You can do it yourself, just make sure the wires are thik enough if u have to extend them and make sure u make good holders so battery will be fixed well.

  4. The Mini Mk 1 (1959 on) had the battery in the boot.

You'd need to fabricate a secure housing for it so some welding work would be needed as well.

I personally wouldn't so this myself - I'd entrust it to a qualified auto electrician.

  5. You do know that an overheated battery is seriously dangerous, hydrogen gas is released when a car battery overheats, not only that hydrogen has a lower flash point than petrol.  All i'm saying is do it at your own peril.

  6. It's very easy: Make sure that your existing cables connecting to the battery negative in the engine bay are taken to a good earth point.

You'll then need a heavy gauge battery cable to extend the positive lead from where the battery was to the boot - it's easiest to run the cable under the car & bring it up into the boot area through a grommet.

You'll then need a negative cable from the new battery location to an earth point in the boot.

To fix the battery in place, youcould use he existing pair of threaded hooks & bar from their original location.

I'd use a fusible link as the connection between the old  battery lead & the new one running to the boot.

  7. first of all I'm not familiar with a fiesta, but all there is to it is moving the battery where you want it,and getting long enough cables to connect it.

  8. I have one thing to add to JG's answer.

Get a battery box to put the battery in. This can then be vented to the outside of the boot. This will keep the hydrogen problem down while protecting the inside of the boot from corrosion. Race cars use them and so do boats.

It is either that or get a marine battery, maybe one for a Miata.

The point is to either get a battery like the Miata's has provisions for outside venting or get a box that can be vented.

  9. yes its quite easy all you need to do is connect the earths (black wires) to the chassis under the bonnet extend the red wire (live) to the boot where your relocating the battery to connect the red to the live (plus) then the earth wire from your battery to the boot (make sure you keep the earth wire as short as you can) then fasten the battery down nice and tight hope this helps ;)
