Question:

Relocating, renting an apartment, and only one job. Help!?

My husband and I are relocating from Pittsburgh to Orlando next year. We've always wanted to relocate, so this is more of a want than a need right now. He works from home for a company based out of Orlando, so some things probably will be a bit easier for him when we live there.

My question is what sort of financial requirement is there for moving into an apartment community? I will not have a job yet when we move. Will one income be enough for an apartment community to approve us? What do they look for when checking your credit and employment--will they know how much we make? We have good credit, so that's no problem, but he'll only be making about $25K at the time we move.

Thanks!

  1. you just need verification of how much you make. idk if its like this other places but they have a financial cap which is its usually around 25k or 30k and if you make more than that you cant live in certain places. thats what i was told when looking for an apartment.  places usually start around $650. you  can find duplexes/townhomes for that much to.

  2. With apartment communities it really dpends on what they look at, with different aparments they look at different things.  At mine they made sure mycredit was good and that I also made enough mony to afford the place.  they said I needed to be able to make 3X the amount of my rent payment per month.  they had also told me before that if someone didn't make that much they just needed a bank statement or something along that matter just to see to make sure that a person had a substantial amount of money to be able to rent the place, but i never had to go that route.  Hoped this helped.
