I currently live in PG County, Maryland and want to give my kids a better environment and atmosphere to grow up in. I am considering moving to North Carolina, maybe Greensboro, Charlotte, or Fayetteville, I've also looked at Ashville however, I am running into a wall with social services information. Can someone please tell me (preferbly someone speaking from personal experience) how to go about applying for section 8 in N.C. while I still live in MD? Is this possible? AND are there any sites that can help me? Thank you so much for your help and I am on stand by with this question so if you need more information please ask and I will add it to the details as soon as I get it.

  1. Hre is the link for Section for North Carolina. Contact the Public Housing Authority in the city you would be interested in moving to.

    Good luck.

  2. Are you on the section 8 now.....

Having a son who is disabled I was offered that section 8, however did not take it.

The places that were approved for that section 8 were no place for me nor my children, some of the apartments were in rather bad places of town. Even the houses were substandard, one place looked as if almost condemnable.

Try to find  "normal" housing, you will be happier.  If you can work and make your own way try.

Who knows maybe over on the east coast the housing is better? and section 8 places are better then here......or I was just sent to places that were open at the time and there was a reason for them to be open?

We do not live high on the hog or rich, or even middle class so I am not that way (if you seen are place you would know that), this is just what I went through......

  3. Section 8 just brings crime to areas where there is no crime, The program should be abolished its ruining America. Just work hard to get a good job and stop relying on the government

  4. Your best bet is to speak to someone in public housing and ask for some information in your area.  If you are already on section 8 in your area, then I would assume you can just transfer to that area you want to go to.  Of course you will need to check for availability in the area you want to be in.  If you are not on section 8, then it would be best to get on the list for the section 8 housing.  It can take awhile, some as long as 2 year waiting list.  I hope HUD can help you.  Good luck.

  5. NC Section 8 housing information
