Question:

Relocating to the Eagan, MN area. Could someone from the area suggest the best neighborhoods to find a house?

I'm looking for an inexpensive, fixer-upper type house, of older construction (1920-1960), maybe a brick bungalow or something similar - it doesn't matter how ratty it is, because I can restore almost any shack to a decent condition. I don't have a lot of money to spend (maybe $80K or a little less), but I want a somewhat safe neighborhood. I'm just a single guy living by myself, so maybe a neighborhood of younger professionals just starting out? I know almost nothing about the neighborhoods surrounding Minneapolis or the Eagan area, so I was wondering if someone could suggest a specific area where I might find what I am looking for. Any help or advice would be most appreciated! Thanks, Eric - Athens, Georgia.

  1. Are you sure about moving from GA to MN?

    MN is brrrrr COLDDDDDD.........:)

Mpls-St Paul metro area are relatively safe.

Suburb are much better I think, dont live inside the city of St Paul or Mpls (as you may know that more people choose suburb)

We live there a while ago in the city (not in down town) and have a 1 break in during 4 years .

I dont really know which suburb are the safest place, but I heard Eagan are good place to live , as well as surrounding area like Apple Valley, Bloomington.

Eden Prairie , Edina, are some expensive area, that may need 200, 300K or maybe more to buy a house

And there are lots of area that I cant mention here

Good luck, ask again if you find an area that u want to know.
