I am an Indian looking to relocate to Dubai/Abu Dhabi. I am an engr with 17 years of exp in design and engg and working for an MNC in India in a senior position.

Infact I am now very close to have an offer from Dubai.

I am having a family of 4 with 2 school going children.

How much i should expect interms of salary from a company to suffice our family+ some good decent savings.

Pl answer for me to help decide by next course of action.

  1. Dear first of all it depends on how lavishly you live b'cose if your kids will study in international schools like uk , us and Australian schools they r very expensive while others r cheaper eg Dubai English High School and DPS approx 30,000 DHS /- pa to 35,000 DHS/- (appro 3 lac to 4 lac INR/-) per child and also also if you have to pay for the accommodation included that comes round approx 120,000 DHS/-pa plus cost of health care, transport and living expenses .

But dear you have not mentioned that company is going to pay you for early Air Fare and Visa processing and all if not you have to bear those expenses also.

To live in high life dubai you need to get the salary of at least 25-30,000 DHS/- per month. If the company is ready to bear all the expenses then the salary for a middle class should be 10-12,000 DHS/- pm + Air Fare twice a year so that you can save a decent amount.

I'm from Dubai and hope it helps. Gd Luck and welcome to Dubai.

You'r free to ask any query reg dubai i'll be happy to answer.

  2. Hello Mr. PPK, My one word advice is " NO" i just returned from Dubai, i am not discouraging you some of the truths before you.

Long working hours, Tuff Living conditions (Climate, Cost of Living, Rents, Groceries, Schooling, Medical etc.,)

I am a Finance person with 18 + years of Experience was there for 3 years and on Bachelors status. if on family status it is difficult to save hardly anything. by the grace of God i did not fell sick or any family situation forced me to come and go.

for your experience and Qualification i guess they may offer 9,000/- to 12,000/- AED ( Arab Emirates Dirham ) which equals to Rs.11.10 / Per Dirham . Accommodation Costs AED - 70,000/- Dhs per Year. Monthly provisions and family running expenses- Approx- AED- 2000/-, Education School Expenses for 1 Child will be around 1,200 to 1,500 including Bus Expenses per Month X 2, weekly outing will cost for a family (4) AED- 300/- to 400/- including dinner. Medical each doctor visit will cost AED-75/- to AED-100/- after all the above you will be left with may be AED - 1000/- to 2,000/- ( if your salary is AED-12,000/- PM ) which is equavelant to Rs.20,000/- a Month. Sacrifices, leaving the green living in India, Free Movement, taking part in Family Functions, get togethers. attending functions of friends, children education,

10 Hours tuff working with out rest and so health care........

Apart from this the Visa for your family will be sponsored by you... that expenses. company will say they provide.... but once you join they insist you to pay those charges. you will be left with no choice....

It is green from here... but once go there you will see the rel color... any how all the very best. but is really a bachelors paradise.

  4. It is very difficult to answer. Normally, you should come out with the offer and then compare. Nowadays the cost of living is increasing on daily basis because of high inflation. Flat rentals has been increased by more than 40% in last one year.

Anyway, negitiate with not less than net salary of AED 20,000 per month with accomodation, transportation, medical, children education, paid annual leave and annual airfare provided by the company.

And in the upperside, sky is the limit.
