  1. Juarez is a thriving city with a promising future. Strategic location, good infrastructure and services and well educated people make it a great relocating option.

You'll have all the services of a big city. Private hospitals and schools have world-quality status (not a particulary big spending, provided that you own a health insurance).

The weather is extremely hot in summer, and pretty darn cold in winter (it snows).

  2. I don't think Juarez is that safe anymore, just remember the hundreds of women that have been kill after getting our of the maquilas (factories) and what about the police, they are still very corruptive.  I used to live in India (Agra) and have live in Cd Juarez as well so I know what I am talking about....and don't forget the long waits on the bridges to go accross to El Paso, TX!!

  3. Ciudad Juarez is a typical Mexican border town that is not sufficiently well equiped as some other cities in Mexico that are more populated and have a larger city to support in terms of services. One of the benefits that you might have is that it is generally quite easy to get into the US if you have a tourist visa or if you are an American citizen. There you can find good helth care services. Regarding your employability, I am afraid that from my experience, it will take a bit of time to get that since you have to prove the local authorities that you are not taking someone else's job as a foreigner. It all depends on the type of visa that you might have when you are relocated.  Good luck.

  4. elementary school and junior high are supposed to be free, they are cheap but not free, the books are free, but they charge you like 10 dollars per year on elementary, in junior high its about 100 dollars per year, and high school depends, there are some that can charge you from 150 per year to 2000, usually the more expensive the better (my experience i just got out from high school), there is on colleges UACJ ITESM UACH ITCJ UTCJ UIN URN, and a lot more but the best are the first 3, also there are some at el paso UTEP EPCC and others with technical careers, there is the IMSS but i dont recommend it that much i rather go to a doctors office

most jobs here are related to factories and business

the first answerer forgot to mention a couple of things, there are other 3 papers, el diario, el mexicano y el pm(not a good paper though) and the woman killing isnt happening that much like it used to but its still a bit unsafe (everyone exagerates about it), also there are some fancy hospitals but too expensive, star medica and another one which i cant remember the name of but its something about angeles, there is a lot to do, restaurants of a lot of cultures, clubs, movie teathers (some vip), also there is a festival in the whole state its called festival chihuahua, around september this festival brings opera, plays, concerts and it has a great environment(also for kids), a lot of cafes, i recommend limoneros, car deleaships (mercedes, nissan, dodge, jeep, toyota, ford...) supermarket, clothing stores, this is one of the most fast growing cities (2 new hospitals, brand new mall, another one coming, starbucks opened a few months ago, more coming up, new stores coming as well as cultural events), i think it may be hard at the beginning, it will help a lot if you know some spanish, a lot of people speaks english, if you have money save you can get an apartment, try to find a day care for your child or if you have the money a private one, most of the private have classes for intelligence development, languages, ballet classes, and things that are good for kids, you could put your resume in this page http://www.empleosmaquila.com/ and submit it for ciudad juarez

    this is the newspaper webpage

http://www.diario.com.mx/ its only in spanish but there are some online translators, (not very accurate but most of the sentences are correct in them)

  5. Do you mean Ciudad Juarez in Chihuahua?

In Mexico the elementary  education is free in the state schools, but if you prefer, sometimes is better, to look for a private school, it depends on the director of each school.

The medical service is expensive (about 200 pesos each time), for these reason we prefer to affiliate to the I.M.S.S. ( about 5000 per year and family), which manage the pensions (temporal or permanent), and has the best specialists and equipment, but general medicine  is a kind of chaotic ( unfortunately you have to get the transfer paper to the specialist in the general medicine department!). For the vaccines of your child or nursery services, as well as specialities, it is good to affiliate.

To get a job it is better to learn Spanish, if you can, take a course in your country in advance, so you will be able to adapt better . Some universities have Language centers very cheap and good.

About your migration status, you have to ask direct to the migration department (you will need the form FM3):
