I plan on remaking a barbie doll, and I was going to rip out all her hair and sew new hair. How do I do this? Is there a video on the web that can help me?

  1. Hair

    Step1

Wash the hair with gentle shampoo and rinse it thoroughly in warm water.

    Step2

Apply a mild conditioner. If the hair is stuck together, leave the conditioner in for 10 minutes.

    Step3

With the conditioner still in the hair, comb out snarls with a small comb. (It's best to use the comb that came with the Barbie doll.) Start at the bottom of the hair and work your way toward the scalp.

    Step4

Rinse out the conditioner. This may take several rinses.

    Step5

While the hair is still wet, set it in curlers. Use bobby pins for tight curls and small foam curlers for larger curls. Use a tiny orthodontic rubber band for a ponytail holder.

    Step6

Dip the hair in hot water to set the curls.

    Step7

Let the curls dry overnight. Remove the curlers and style the hair.

    Face and body

    Step1

If your doll is especially grimy, soak the Barbie in milddish washingg liquid and warm water for 15 minutes.

    Step2

Wipe away dirt with a soft, damp cloth. Use a cotton swab to clean crevices.

    Step3

Tackle any ink or grease stains with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.

    Step4

For really tough ink stains, apply acne cream with a "vanishing formula," such as Oxy 10 or Clearasil. Place the Barbie in the sun for a day and then scrape away the cream. Repeat several times if necessary.

    Step5

Repaint any chipped or missing facial features, such as brows or lips, with a fine brush and acrylic hobby paints.

    Step6

If the head is torn at the neck area, fix it with glue designed for plastic, such as Permatex.

    Step7

If you want to replace a broken limb with a good one taken from another Barbie, plunge the torso and limb in boiling water for 30 seconds. This will soften up the vinyl and make it easier to pry off the old limb and pop in the new one.

    Tips & Warnings

        * If you have an old or rare Barbie, hire a professional doll doctor to clean her.

        * "Green ear," caused by corrosion of the metallic posts in a Barbie's earrings, is very difficult to get rid of. It's best to camouflage this with a hat or a curl of hair. Use hydrogen peroxide to arrest green ear; it sometimes spreads even after you've removed the earrings.

        * To keep a Barbie doll in tiptop shape, store it in a cool, dry place out of direct sun.

        * Some products may bleach or stain vinyl. If in doubt, test on a small, less visible area.

        * Do not blow-dry Barbie's hair. The heat will damage its delicate fibers.

This is the best i can find you cant rip out her hair and sew new , sorry

Thats because the hair come's out of teeny tiny holes in her head.

But, You could give her a nice trim maybe...

So, thats the best i can do

    Hope i helped :D

  2. What you're trying to do is referred to as 're-rooting' Barbie hair. It is normally saved for vintage and collector dolls as it can be expensive and normally needs to be sent to a professional.

I'd recommend creativity at this point. Many Barbie dolls (and My Scene dolls) I used to have experienced full makeovers where they would receive top notch Barbie care (par moi) and I would take a pair of scissors to their little 6 dollar heads of hair. They would come out with hair so gorgeous you'd never know what they were before.

Personally, unless this doll is very special (and really worth it) I'd recommend a makeover via hair trim.

    : ) Happy trails

  3. Is that really possible? On barbie dolls - they have their hair coming out of holes in their head. I would think you would have to go to a sewing shop because it doesn't look easy to repair. Maybe professionals could do it? By the way, have you already ripped the hair out? Are you thinking of putting a whole wig on - then sowing it on or single hair strands? If so, I don't think you can even SOW A WIG ON! Their heads are plastic and not an easy material to sew on. You might have to give this a better thought. Good Luck!
