Whats is your guys thought on buying a remanfactured engine from napa? I was told to stay away from Autozone and advanced auto engines so i found one at napa thats a little costly but im considering buying it..I'm not putting the engine in im sending it to a local dealership to install it but what do you guys think about the napa engines or do you know anyone thats had experiences with them? Thanks

The car is a 1997 chevy cavalier 4 cylinder 2.2L...I had the car painted and a new transmission installed not to long ago..I'm fixing this car up as a project to look like a racing car but that not what i'll be using it for =]

  1. Price and compare a Gm Motor from the dealer. Those usually come more complete and have just as good if not better warranty . Plus if it leaks or has a problem in the warranty period any Gm dealer can repair it......... Check them out you might be surprised. I have used them in the past and had good luck with them................UJN

  2. try the dealer they have a crate engine. may be cheaper. done by manufactor. much better engine.

  3. check out Jasper rebuilt motors as well, they offer a very good rebiuld, but not sure of the cost.

  4. make sure you get a good Warranty with it asks about Extended warrantys to .

  5. I have good luck with Jasper's remanufactured engines in the past. I am not sure if NAPA sells Jaspers but it is good choice.

  6. It's not about Autozone vs. Napa.  It's about what company actually does the rebuilding.  (Auto parts stores don't rebuild engines.)  One quick and dirty way to tell quality is to look at the warranty on the remanufactured engine.  You should take a look at the remanufacturer's website too.
