Remarkable comeback from Cesena holds Juventus to a draw - Serie A Update
A late equaliser from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dino-c11319 Manuzzi on Saturday evening. Alessandro Matri’s brace in the first half was not enough to guide the Old Lady to a victory, as they squandered a two goal
cushion after the break.
Cesena made a single change to their team that beat Sampdoria 3-2 last Sunday. Dominique Malonga was replaced by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Erjon-Bogdani-c12779 upfront. Juventus coach, Luigi Del Neri made several changes to the Juve side that lost 1-0 against AC Milan last weekend. Matri
and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-Del-Piero-c4726 started upfront in a 4-4-2 formation.
Juventus got off the game to a brisk start as they created several early chances. In the ninth minute, Matri finished beautifully from a corner but the referee waived an offside flag to deny the visitors an early lead.
The Bianconeri opened the scoring in the 19th minute, after Del Piero played a wonderful through ball to Matri, who completed a low finish past the goalkeeper to make it 1-0 for Juve. Soon after, Cesena saw a huge chance, when Emanuele Giaccherini
slipped in a perfect finish past http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gianluigi-Buffon-c14833 but the ball bounced off the post and landed at his feet. The Italian spooned his shot over the bar in-front of an open goal.
The visitors doubled their tally of the evening in the 35th minute after a wonderful build-up play. Del Piero saw his powerful shot rattle against the cross bar but Matri headed the rebound from close range to make it 2-0.
Moments later, Parolo was brought down inside the penalty area by Buffon and the referee pointed to the spot. The goalkeeper was lucky to have seen only a yellow card. Luis Jimenez stepped up and riffled his shot into the top corner to make it 2-1. More
drama continued before the half time whistle, as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Motta-c23718 was shown a red card for a dangerous foul on Giaccherini.
The hosts came close of an equaliser, immediately after the resumption of the second half. Buffon made a fantastic save to tip away a low drive from Giuseppe Colucci. The hosts tormented the Juve defence with a flurry of attacks but their wastefulness in-front
of the goal let them down.
Cesena finally managed to draw level ten minutes from the full time whistle, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-Rosina-c4741 played a lovely free kick which was half cleared by the Juve defence and Parolo smacked his shot into the bottom corner to make it 2-2. The hosts continued to
threaten later in the game but the match ended 2-2.
Juventus will play their next game against Brescia on 20th March, while Cesena will take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 on 19th March.
