Remat ZALAU loses to Acqua Paradiso MONZA by 1-3 – 2012 CEV Volleyball Cup
The Remat ZALAU men’s volleyball team from Romania had a match recently with Italy’s Acqua Paradiso MONZA.
The contest between the two sides was held in the Romanian city of Baia Mare. The match was part of the Challenge Round of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Cup.
The competition between the home team and the guests was tough and thrilling to watch as it took both sides four long and gruelling sets to reach its close. Despite the fact that the Italians were playing away from home, they were able to bag the match.
By the time that the match had reached its close, the scoreboard showed the following final set scores as 24-26, 25-21, 18-25 and 23-25.
The head coach of the Remat ZALAU squad, Mariusz Sordyl, expressed himself in the following words, “We played well three sets, but in the last one we lost a few important points, which decided the winner. I want to thank Remat’s players for the fact that
they fought for every single point. We will try to win the return match in Italy.”
On the other hand, the head coach of the MONZA squad, Emanuele Zanini, shared his views by making the following comments, “Remat ZALAU has great players, which made our mission harder. It wasn’t our best day because I believe that some points were questionable.
Small details made the difference in the end.”
The first set of the match saw the guests take the lead early on and stretch their advantage. The home team kept the score close all through but they could not succeed in overtaking the Italians as a result of which the first set was won by the guests.
The second set of the game saw the home team step up their game which enabled them to take the lead in the initial stages and stick with the advantage for the most part. In the end of the frame, the home team was able to and the frame on their terms.
However, the second set was the only moment of glory for the home team as the Italians secured the third as well as the fourth sets to win the match.
