Rematch between World Boxing Council’s Champion Jean Pascal and Bernard Hopkins: Boxing News
The hatred between Jean Pascal and Bernard Hopkins can be seen anywhere at least on stage when the cameras are flashing, as of now, after a lot of struggle, the rematch between the Light Heavyweight candidates has been decided to take place on May 21.
The 12-round heated bout will be aired in USA on a popular sports channel.
It would be interesting to see what kind of fight strategy, Hopkins is going to implement this time.
On Monday, Pascal’s promoter, Yvon Michel said, “I believe Hopkins is a blessing, a gift from God. He has brought Jean Pascal to another level.”
Adding to this Michel said, “Jean needs a challenge, and that’s what he regained during this preparation.”
Last time, the World Boxing Council’s Light Heavyweight Champion, Pascal of Canada faced the former undisputed World Middleweight Champion, Hopkins of America in their rematch of 12-rounds bout on December 18, 2010 at Montreal, Canada.
Firstly, the 46-year-old American legend, Hopkins was almost knocked down during the first and second round. Pascal won two early knockdowns in the first and third rounds, but he was unable to finish him.
“Hopkins vs. Pascal was one of the most talked about fights of 2010 and rightfully so,” said Oscar de la Hoya, President of Golden Boy Promotions. “Regardless of whether you thought the decision was correct or not, both fighters gave us compelling action
for 12 rounds, and this was a natural for a rematch. I’m expecting another war in May.”
Many observers and boxing critics were of the view that the majority draw of that exciting fight was completely a controversial decision. They appealed boxing officials to arrange the competition again.
In the rematch, Pascal blamed Hopkins that he is taking performance-enhancing drugs. Michel is of the view that Pascal’s madness brought the fight to a controversial decision. On the other hand, Pascal’s trainer Marc Ramsay believes that everything has been
proved by him, but there is nothing he could have done better.
Due to such teasing comments, the fight has become more of nail-biter.
The two fighters will be face-to-face to show the world who is the best light heavyweight in the world.
