I've felt awful for two days now. I can't sleep at night... it's like I just can't get comfortable enough to fall asleep because my throat feels itchy and scratchy. I also have a bit of a cough which doesn't help either. Is there something besides DayQuill/NyQuil that I can take. I've been sucking on cough drops, using Chloroseptic and taking tylenol but it's not helping. I really need to get a decent nights sleep as I'm ex hasted!

  1. This is going to sound just awful, but have you tried a few sips of brandy?  It burns going down, tastes terrible, but always helps a sore throat.  I have to do this about once a year when I first catch a cold ... so I have graduated from plain brandy to Frangelico which tastes somewhat better -- honestly, they're all nasty.

My regimen now when I feel a cold coming on is to take Airborne  at breakfast, lunch and dinner then I gargle with salt water right before bedtime and take about 3 small sips of Frangelico.  It helps ease my throat and I sleep somewhat better.

Best wishes and, hopefully, sweet dreams.

  2. Boiron's Homeogene, homeopathic pills.

First take two. You can repeat the double dosage after an hour, then just one pill each hour.

Within few hours your throat shall be fine, but you take a whole day the pills (each hour) - keep them in your mouth until they are dissolved.
