‘Remember Me’ announced at GDC – Video Games Update
Capcom, in partnership with Dontnod Entertainment, has revealed a new game at Gamescom Germany called ‘Remember Me’ which is in development for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
Formally known as Adrift by the developer Dontnod, the game resurfaces with Capcom as the new publisher and a change of name to ‘Remember Me’. From the trailer released at Gamescom, Remember Me looks to be a cyberpunk third person action adventure plat-former.
Capcom has provided some information about the upcoming game and revealed that it will take place in Neo-Paris and will be set in 2084.
Gamers will “take on the role of Nilin, a former elite memory hunter with the ability to break into people's minds and steal or even alter their memories. Arrested, and with her memory wiped clean Nilin must now set out on a mission to rediscover her identity,”
states the official statement by Capcom and Dontnod Entertainment. The game centres on an economy where memories are the main currency and can be bought and sold to anyone.
The trailer shows that the game is heavily inspired by the Deus Ex games as environments and the general theme of the game feels really similar. It is not clear as to what type of game ‘Remember Me’ is but early impressions from the trailer point towards
it being a third person action plat-former similar to Uncharted or the Tomb Raider series.
The trailer stresses on stealth at the beginning but also reveals a short glimpse of the combat in the game which shows Nilin taking on multiple enemies. From the short teaser Batman: Arkham Asylum combat comes to mind as Nilin disposes of all the targets
with close combat martial arts. The animations seem fluid and the visuals are solid. The video also shows that there might be some quick time events action sequences which will add to the cinematic feel of the game.
Currently Capcom has not announced any release date for the game but has only revealed that it will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. There was also no mention of a Wii-U version.
