Question:

Remember the 70's, I believe after the Vietnam war,,,what..???

History savvy people....Remember the 70's during Jimmy Carter's term.

Well I grew up in a lower income neighborhood, and remembering right after Vietnam War (or during) we had several Asian families move in houses in our neighborhood. Can someone explain in a paragraph or so, the politics behind many Asians coming to the US at that time?????

  1. i guess they wanted a better life here...i really don't remember, i spent most of the 70's at grateful dead shows.


  2. Numerous South Vietnamese exiles were relocated as refugees. Many moved to the Gulf coastal areas to find similar climate and occupations as they had in Vietnam. Seadrift, Texas is one such community with a high influx of  Vietnamese during this time period. Tensions ran high between long time locals and the new Asian residents. A movie called Alamo Bay is based on a true story of a conflict in that town that turned violent.
