Remember the not-so-long days when those with money specially hired Latinos to work in their home?

I remember how when I was growing up, every other house in our neighborhood had either a Latin housemaid, cook or baby-sitter (it was especially desired for them to teach their children Spanish).

Whatever happened to those normal, non-racist folk? And I live in the South... where racism is more than alive and well still.

I guess the economy hit them bad, too, and they just couldn't afford to have extra help in the house or something.

Please don't base the entire country on the answers here in yahooland. If you get out in the world a bit you get to see more respect for other cultures than in this insular world of losers. I mean seriously if anyone here had the brains and power they like to believe they have wouldn't they be doing something spectacular today? Saving the world or working for their party before the elections, making a real contribution to the world rather than beating up people who can't/won't defend themselves on yahoo? My god I see the same questions and answers day after day year after year. It sounds obsessive and pathetic really and it's no wonder the government doesn't take the average citizen seriously. Heck I can't take them seriously and I'm a nobody too.

SSSHHHH! they are still there because they are the only honest people they can rely on to do that work, be part of the family and teach their kids a different language all at the same time. They just don't want to admit they have them working at home because the racism is growing by the minute because of the immigration issues.

Wake up call, most of us white folks even here in the south are not rich or racist.  So stay in your rich girl gated community, okay.
