Question:

Remember the threat of the "killer bees" that were suppose to hinder the bee population?

What ever happened to them? I read that the honey bee population is suffering from hive colapse disorder (something like that). Is it possible that the killer bees are causing this? I read somewhere that it isn't any mites on them, and they're studying the effects of cell phones on the bee population. What do you think is causing the bees to not return to their hives? I heard the US losts around 60 - 70% of their honey bees.

  1. Wow, lots of disinformation floating around out there.

The so-called killer bees (afracanized honey bees) are still arround; but, unlike what was predicted by some short sighted biologists who didn't carefully enough study the problem before spreading the alarm, instead of the killer bees taking over hive after hive after hive, their genetics are being diluted the longer they are around.  The biologists likened their presence in a hive to dropping a drop of red dye into a bucket of water.  One drop turns the whole bucket of water red.  Well, it worked that way for a while, but with each hive invasion, that one drop went less farther than the time before until it became like dropping a single drop of that red dye into a swimming pool....

As for the cell phone theory, I think there is some real science that needs to be done here also, but it may be a very viable theory verging on fact.  It is still only a theory though and shouldnt be treated as fact.....yet.

Now, as for 60-70% of the bees being lost, people have to be very careful about repeating reports put out by the news services, or should I say infotainment services.  "COMMERCIAL BEE KEEPERS" have reported 60-70% losses of their personal bees, not the entire bee population....where do these bees go?  Well, its been happening ever since bee keepers have tried to make it a commercial proposition.  They let the hives get too over crowded, dont tend to the bees, and then a couple new queens are born in the hive and the hive swarms away and forms its now new hive somewhere else.  These yoyos have lost THEIR PERSONAL bees from natural swarming....will the talking heads at MSNBC or CBS or FOX tell you this? h**l no!  Its not sensational enough to make scare you to death infotainment..!!!

Look around you this spring...are all the bees gone?  Look at the flowers in a beautiful garden....do you see bees?  THEY'RE STILL HERE!  They're just not in some commercial box hive so they can ge easily transported to some orchard or grove somewhere...boo hoo the commercial bee keepers were stupid, lazy or just ignorant or cheap...so they lost over half their bee slaves....it happens if as an apiculturalist, you don't do your job and actually TEND your bees!

Sleep easy at night....like Fox Mulder said....the truth is out there......you just gotta dig for it sometimes.

    Peace man.
