I think there's a lot of truth to that.  Journalists dropped the ball on the Iraq War--including the much venerated Tim Russert when he interviewed George Bush one-on-one.  They are not only guilty of wimping out on asking difficult questions that challenge the facts that the public are fed, they also bear much of the responsibility for how there's such an absurd focus on non-issues, like flag pins, middle names, and age.

Yes--the coverage of the days leading up to the Iraq War is proof of that.
