  1. I do agree!

  2. Agreed!  Amongst Irish-Americans, it's "Be careful what you wish for,  you just might get it!"

  3. Yes, although I can't think of an example from personal experience right off. I would expect that many people would rationalize [sour grapes, for instance]  or take credit for "doing the right thing."

"Thank you, God, for that close call." -- "Uncommon Prayers from The Church of The Trembling Agnostics,"  An unpublished manuscript..

  4. Absolutely right.

Sometimes in the 'grand scheme of things' what you want is actually something which wouldn't do you any good.

For example, maybe you see a cute puppy and want it, but don't get it and are disappointed. A year later the puppy has grown into a large unmanageable dog, which you wouldn't want at all.

  5. YES.  Be careful what you wish for.  I asked for more patience.  I was given a husband who tried my patience everyday for 10 years.

  6. Very much so.  Gosh I could have ended up a very unhappy person if I even got a few things I thought I wanted.

  7. Yes, like: Be careful what you wish for.

  8. totally agree, although you may think you need or want summin futher down the line you may be grateful u didnt

  9. surely i don't.because not every thing you want id good for you........

what if you want something which is so bad for you .......when the god wants to avoid you that harmful thing that you think is good for you but in the reality it does not!!he makes you fail in it ....ok?so please don't think about it that way!!!you don't know what the distiny hides for you .be optimistic!!!!pls

  10. It is not necessarily a stroke of luck but rather a part of God's plan. What you wanted was not what God meant for you. He had better things than that to give you, which you need  much more than what you want.  Remember also that " There is an appointed time for everything, and a time for every affair under the heavens...." from the Book of Ecclesiastes,ch3

  11. Agree

  12. `Quite often this is so. A long time ago, I went to a house auction and didn`t get the house as someone else gave a higher bid, I was very disappointed. Two days later, the estate agent `phoned" I`ve got just the house for you" he announced. He was right, the house he was talking about, was the very same house I had driven past nearly a year previously, and fallen in love with. After that I quite often drove past to admire it, each time I wanted to knock at the door and ask the owner if they wanted to sell their house, I didn`t have the nerve to. Six weeks after his `phone call, the house was mine and I still live here very happily.

  13. i agree

  14. I agree.  We can't always see what might arise from us getting what we want, which can sometimes be bad things.

  15. Whether it's something we worked for, hoped for, or prayed for, sometimes the thing we wanted turns out to be bad for us. Sometimes we end up with that thing (goal accomplished, a "prize" we had our eye on, or whatever), and we realize it's not what we needed or it turned out all wrong. Sometimes, fortunately, we are spared from it altogether. In the instances when we get that thing we wanted and it turns out bad, we can grow from the experience.

  16. I agreed, because every lil things in this life was planned and ruled by our God.. just send him a prayer.. whatever u wish to have... the answer is in His hands... hoping for the best.. expecting the worst.. He has a beautiful plan than we are... just believe it and we will live in peace...

  17. Beware your wishes don't come true comes to mind.

  18. There is an excellent song by country singer Garth Brooks that demonstrates this very well. I love it, so I`ve added a link for you to see the lyrics:

I think it's very true, although at the time you think that what you want is the right thing but how many times have we all thanked God we didn't end up with it!!!

  19. well for some instances it may be, i once red a story about two friends that got lost and found a town but unfortunately there were no rooms left for them to stay for the night so they slept outside of the the town but it turned out that they were so lucky  because that night a band of thieves plundered thew town and left it without anything.. as you can see in these story not everything you don't get is bad luck..^_^

  20. It has been said that when the gods want to punish people, they give them what they ask for.

I don't have a specific example to support that, but I do agree.

  21. I do Agree..

  22. Sure, i guess. What you want can be a bad thing especially if, say, you walked in on your girlfriend thumpin some other guy in your bed. Wanted to kill him. Yeah. Wasn't nice. Hmpf.

  23. Yes I am sometimes very thankful indeed afterwards.

I have had it drummed  into me always be very careful in what you wish or pray for, just in case you get it.

I think the lesson is don't be selfish

  24. As T.S. Eliot said: "The road we did not take"

  25. i agree in the long run sometime your better off.

  26. Hi J... Fate moves in mysterious ways sometimes..... it can be a godsend or a blessing in disguise..strange things have happened to me because of it ! x
