Remi Bizouard collects victory in second round of 2012 FIM Freestyle MX World Championship in Turin
France’s Remi Bizouard walked away with top honours in the second round of 2012 International Motorcyclist Federation (FIM) Freestyle Motocross (MX) World Championship that went down at Palasport Olimpico in Turin, Italy, on Saturday, March 3.
Spain’s Maikel Melero had to settle for runner-up place while Czech Republic’s Libor Podmol finished third to complete the podium.
Part of the International Freestyle Motocross Federation (IFMXF) Night of the Jumps World Tour, the competition field in the second round of 2012 FIM MX Freestyle MX World Championship was loaded with some of the best motocross riders from around the globe
who were competing to get their hands on the prize money as well as the coveted ranking points.
The two-time FIM Champion Bizouard was looking as intimidating as ever during the Final of round two of the championship. The 25-year-old French rider had managed to put on a solid performance in the Final of the first round of the championship that went
down at the same site on Friday, though he was forced to settle for runner-up place after finishing just two-points behind Podmol.
Bizouard made it quite clear early in the Final on Saturday that he had no intention of settling for anything less than the top spot on the podium this time. He put on a phenomenal show, landing everything from a 360 to a cliff-hanger, holy grab to rock
solid combo, back-flip cliff-hanger, holy grab sideshow combo, indy flip, back-flip shaolin, tsunami flip and a flat-liner before executing a Hart attack back-flip.
Talking to a reporter after the Final, the French rider conceded that he planned on taking his riding to a next level at the next stop of the series that would be at Berlin, Germany, from March 16 – 17.
“It was not as big as I expected," Bizouard commented on his 360, after winning Saturday's competition. “I'm struggling in this place about this trick. I hope I can be in Berlin and it's also going to be a good weekend over there. We had fun here.”
Melero earned a score of 379 during the Final to secure his second podium finish in two days.
Podmol, who had won the first round of the championship on Friday, was forced to settle for third place after finishing with a score of 378 points, missing out on a better result by merely one point.
The 2011 FIM Champion Javier Villegas from Chile remained missing from the competition following an injury sustained during the 12-man qualifiers round during the first round of 2012 FIM Freestyle MX World Championship.
