The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 coach is standing by his decision of using defensive tactics against Nice in Coupe de Ligue and is expecting a better performance from Les Gones this time around
The Rhone giants were far from their best against Les Aiglons on Wednesday and were punished for that with Nice winning the game 3-1 in the end.
Although it wasn’t a league match, Lyon were expected to win that game if we look at their impressive form in the Ligue 1 that has helped them stay in the top four. The seven-time champions of France are currently fourth in the league with 18 points on the
table.
OL have played a game less than most of the teams in the league following the cancellation of their match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 last week. And coach, Remi Garde knows that his side cannot afford any more hiccups with a hectic schedule looming over
their heads.
While talking to reporters, the 46-year-old stated that he has failed to figure out what went wrong for Lyon against Nice in Coupe de la Ligue and added that his tactics are not to be blamed.
The coach admitted that his tactics were defensive a bit because of a number of injuries in the attacking department. However, Garde feels that his side was not too defensive in their approach against Nice and Les Gones created a number of goalscoring opportunities
on the pitch.
"It's not all wrong. I don't blame our offensive tactic because there were a few good moves in the match.”
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international said that he will use such tactics again if he has to and Lyon need to perform well to get back to winning ways.
"We will try that again, either we start the game or during the game itself. I think this tactic fits the squad and the most experienced players I have but there is nothing certain yet. I wanted to try that. Everything was not good. It was the same with
the others tactics we used. I have learned from that."
The coach said that Lyon have learnt from their mistakes and is expecting a better performance from the Rhone giants this time around.
