The Frenchman is pleased with Les Gones’ performance against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 last night and is pleased to be league leaders
Olympique Lyonnais produced one of the best performances of the season so far as they cruised past Olympique de Marseille at Stade Velodrome on Wednesday. A hat-trick from Bafetimbi Gomis helped OL to go to the top of the table and coach, Remi Garde is pleased
with the result.
Talking about his team’s standing in the league, the 46-year-old stated that everyone at the club is really happy with the fact that Olympique Lyonnais are at the summit. Lyon were already at the top 10 days ago but they lost the place to Paris Saint-Germain.
However, Garde wants to stay there for a longer period this time around and is looking forward to the upcoming games.
“Look, I'm really happy to be league leaders; I think the players are as well. We were already leaders 10 days ago, but we didn't stay there long," he said.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 player said that the Ligue 1 is very competitive this year and things can change really quickly. However, Lyon have been performing really well this season and the coach feels that they truly deserved to be on top and there is no luck
involved.
"We know it can be different after the next match because the gap isn't great but we are happy. There is no luck, if we are where we are it's because we deserve it.”
The coach added that it’s not a cup competition and we cannot let out guards down. There is a long way to go and the league is far from over. Garde said that Lyon have some tricky fixtures ahead and they need to move forward with caution, and has urged his
players to continue playing like they did at Stade Velodrome on Wednesday.
"The league is far from over; we still have tough games to come, especially away from home but we are moving forward little by little. We are where we expected to be so we are really happy."
