The Frenchman felt satisfied with Olympique Lyonnais’ victory against a resilient OGC Nice. The coach was happy as Les Gones managed to win their final game of the year staying on level terms with Paris Saint-Germain
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 seemed like an entirely different side as they defeated OGC Nice at the Stade Gerland. The Lyon-based club were defeated by Paris Saint-Germain in their recent encounter, one that stripped them of the top spot in the Ligue 1. However,
Les Gones came back strongly as they defeated the Cote d’Azur side to claim all three points.
Lyon produced a fine display of football as goals from Lisandro Lopez, Anthony Reveillere and Bafetimbi Gomis kept the French outfit in contention for the league title.
The coach was delighted to win the year’s last game, lifting the curse from Les Gones. He exclaimed:
"We have ended the curse of the final game of the year. We are happy.”
Garde believes that the Lyon-based club were worthy winners. The coach reserved special praise for goalkeeper, Rémy Vercoutre, who gave a superb performance night. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 defender stated:
“I think we deserved the win but it was an open game in terms of chances. We needed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rémy-Vercoutre-c30797 to be at his best at 0-0 to help us out of a tricky situation.”
The Frenchman believes that there is room for improvement in the way the team plays. The coach feels that the Lyon-based club had underestimated their potential prior to the season, as they have performed well beyond expectations. While talking to the press,
he said:
“I think we lacked certain things needed to control the game that are usually there. We have adapted as the first half of the season has gone along. If we had thought, at the start of the season, that we would be where we are, we would have been very happy.”
Garde has warned that it would be difficult to replicate the same set of performances in the second-half of the season. However, the coach is not short of optimism. The 46-year-old said:
“We are halfway there and it will not be easy to do as well again in the second half of the season."
