Shortly after landing at Rhone, Remi Garde was the guest of the show, OL System on OL TV. The young tactician took some time out to talk about his side’s penalty-shootout defeat at the hands of APOEL Nicosia in the Champions League.
The defeat was a latest one in a long list of poor results that has put Lyon’s Champions League qualification hopes in serious jeopardy.
“Sleep has been very difficult to find. The disappointment is huge. The defeat leaves a bitter taste to me. I am questioning myself every morning and anticipate criticism,” said Remi Garde before adding that his players should learn from this defeat.
Often described as a “nice and quiet coach”, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 player has also chosen to send a strong warning to his players this time.
Garde is not fleeing from his responsibilities and is growing tired of the team’s inconsistency that has already caused them so much.
“We went there full of hope. There are individual disappointments in the game and in the games before this one. The match against Paris was the only one where we were in harmony. The team lacks cohesion, it is irregular.”
Remi Garde also said that he accepts the blame as well because it eventually falls on him to deliver the right result.
However, Garde knows that Lyon now await a tough list of games ahead that includes their upcoming game against LOSC Lille. Les Dogues might not be able to have much say on the Championelle this season but would certainly be looking to stay in the last place
for the Champions League – which Lyon so desperately want.
