Remi Garde optimistic about http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130’ chances of finishing at the top – Ligue 1 news
While talking to OL TV, coach of seven-time Ligue 1 champions Olympique Lyonnais, Remi Garde said that he is hopeful that his side will keep on doing their work in order to stay at the peak of Ligue 1 this season.
Les Gones are currently in third place in the 2011/2012 Ligue 1 standings after nine games and the young French tactician is keen on continuing the upward trend that has seen Lyon play some of the most exciting and attractive brand of football in France’s
top footballing tier.
Since then, the international break has given both players and the coach some much needed respite from a hellish list of fixtures that can take sap energy out of the players. Remi Garde has expressed his delight at the way things have gone so far.
While talking to the media, the 45-year-old said, “Being in the top three is a dream and was always the goal for the end of the season. It is good, especially in terms of points and games. It is all good for now.”
Garde was particularly pleased with the work ethic of his charges and said that the family-like feeling within the dressing room is something that has helped the team a lot.
A busy month of October awaits Les Gones in which Garde’s men will have to play Ligue 1, Champions League and domestic cup games.
“There is collective strength in the team that makes me think that we can afford to be where we are the end of the season. I’m pretty calm if everyone remains in their current state of mind,” said the Lyon coach.
Lyon will further benefit from the contract extensions signed by the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Lloris-c16408 and Maxime Gonalons who were constantly linked with moves away from the Stade de Gerland. Remi Garde has done exceptionally well with a young group of
players who are slowly becoming stalwarts of a club that has been trophy-less for the past four seasons.
