Olympique Lyonnais were undone by an impressive Paris Saint-Germain side at Parc des Princes on Sunday but the Lyon boss has refused to blame his players for the defeat and is remaining confident about Les Gones’ chances this season
Lyon lost the top spot to Paris Saint-Germain after a fine strike by PSG’s Blaise Matuidi earned Les Parisiens an important win at home. Sunday’s result has taken the cash-laden club from Paris to the summit but OL coach, Remi Garde is not that much worried
about the situation.
While talking to reporters after the match, the 46-year-old tactician stated that his side did what he asked them to do on the pitch. And Lyon only once lost their focus out there that resulted in Paris Saint-Germain’s goal.
Praising their Sunday’s opponents, the Lyon boss said that it was a great move by the hosts and they got the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Blaise-Matuidi-c7681’s goal.
"We did what we had planned to do apart from some 30 seconds, PSG were clinical in that move.”
After conceding the goal, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 tried to equalise but Garde feels that Lyon lacked the intensity and PSG didn’t allow his side to get closer to the goal. The hosts defended really well after the goal and they made life difficult for the Rhone
giants on the pitch.
“In the second half, we lacked penetration, and had trouble in getting closer to PSG's goal. They were more dangerous intermittently.”
Talking about his tactics, Remi Garde said that he tried some new things against the Ile giants and it worked really well so he didn’t feel like changing the system in the second half.
“I didn't want to change the system in the second half as it had worked very well. It's a system which can cause opponents problems when they attack and defend.”
The Frenchman added that Lyon didn’t press much from the flanks which is a sad thing but is remaining upbeat about Les Gones’ chances this season.
“The only regret I have is that Réveillère and Bastos weren't able to push more down the flanks, though it was tricky in the second half.”
