The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 coach is pleased with Les Gones’ 1-0 victory against Brest on Sunday and has urged the players to continue playing with such confidence in the upcoming games
Lyon have started the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign on a positive note and are third in the league with 18 points on the table at the end of Week 9.
The win against Stade Brest was OL’s fifth of the season and coach, Remi Garde, is pleased with the way things are going for his side at the moment. While talking to reporters after the Sunday’s game, the coach stated that Lyon have been performing really
well this season and he is satisfied with his side’s performance so far.
"Our points tally is in line with our ambitions – that's very satisfying.”
Talking about the win against Brest at Stade de Gerland, the 46-year-old said that Olympique de Lyonnais were clearly the better side of the two and they deservedly won in the end. However, the coach feels that there was lack of goals on Sunday and his side
needs to score more in the upcoming games.
“I think it's a deserved win, even if it was a close-run thing. We didn't manage to give ourselves breathing space by scoring a second goal.”
Praising the opposing team, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international added that Brest were very impressive at the back and they made it difficult for Lyon to play an attacking game. The coach feels that his players failed to find the rhythm on the pitch and that
was the main reason behind the lack of goals.
“Brest defended well, it was tough; we had difficulties in putting rhythm into our game, and – because of that – it took time for the match to be decided.”
Garde added that the international break didn’t help Lyon’s cause and players were really tired. It is difficult to find the rhythm after returning from international duty, but Garde feels that his side did enough to snatch all three points at Stade de Gerland.
“We were scattered all over the place by the international break. That always makes it difficult to re-find your cohesion, but I'm very satisfied with the victory."
