According to the father of former Barcelona star Ludovic Giuly, Olympique Lyonnais manager Remi Garde wanted to sign the veteran from AS Monaco but was not able to.

Showcasing the young prospects of the club is what http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 coach Remi Garde has done pretty well in his first season as the coach of the Rhone giants. The young tactician has inherited a young team and knows that he has to make the best out of
what he has.
If he has partially achieved his goal, Garde did not hesitate from signing players with huge experience last summer. Proof of this is the revelation of Dominique Giuly, father of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ludovic-Giuly-c22617 while talking to OL TV.
“Remi wanted to, he though Ludovic could provide more in terms of experience and joy in the locker room. But I think it did not happen as some feared his arrival. It is my opinion,” says Giuly senior.
Giuly played for Lyon between 1994 and 1998 during which time, he wasn’t able to win any silverware for the club. However a move to AS Monaco was to play a big role on what Giuly was going to achieve a lot of success.
After playing the Champions League final for AS Monaco against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 where he won a plethora of titles which included one Champions League triumph and La Liga and Copa Del Rey winners’ medals.
After spells in Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, Giuly chose to end his career at AS Monaco who are currently in Ligue 2.
“Prince Albert phoned us and said he wanted to see Ludovic in Monaco. My son has a short memory and recognition for the club. The move quickly materialised.”
Given the appeal of Prince Albert, OL did not really have a case especially as the club was not going to grow towards a direction Giuly wanted it to go. Today, more than ever, it is no exaggeration to say that the contribution of the midfielder/winger would
not have been much in a team whose offensive sector is totally capable of doing good and bad.
