Question:

Remington 700 ADL or Savage 10?

Alright, I've narrowed my choices down some. I'm currently looking at getting a .30-06 synthetic stock rifle. I can nab me a Remington 700 ADL new for ~300, or I can get a Savage 10FP (w/ accutrigger) with their little 3-9x scope for 377 new.

What is your preference?

  1. Both are good rifles.  I just like the Remington 700 so that's the one I would buy.

  2. You will not be disappointed with either choice.  I own Remingtons and Savages, and am very happy with both brands.

  3. Both rifles are good quality guns, both very accurate.  I think you'd be completely happy with either, though, if it was me, I highly prefer the fit/finish of the Remingtons over the Savage, I think the Remington stock fits me a lot better than the Savage, also the Remington looks a lot better, but just personal opinion here.

  4. I own both remingtons and savages. A remington sps in 204ruger and a Savage 111 in 7mm mag. Ive changed the scope which came with the Savage to a Bausch and Lomb 3-9 as the scope which came with it was a real cheapo. Both shoot well although the remington does shoot better. The fit and finish is much nicer on the remington. The savage does has the advantage of the accu trigger although remington triggers are very easily adjusted if you research how to do it. Looking at the overall picture and based on my own experience if it was up to me I would go with the Remington.

  5. either would be a good deal... price around for the scope...Is a 3x9 really worth $77 bucks?

I know not all sythetic stocks are equal... some are not very stiff and the flex will throw shots. They can be stiffened and improved. If those rifles wont hold zero that savings may go out the window in fixes.

  6. The scope that comes with the Savage package guns is only a $30 scope.   The Savage may be slightly more accurate, but not enough to matter in a hunting rifle as both rifles are accurate rifles.   My recommendation is for you to get the Remington and buy a scope seperately.  The Remington will hold its value much better and has a more smooth action.  A used ADL is worth  $300 or more.  A used Savage with a synthetic stock and scope is not unless it has a varmint type barrel.  The accutrigger is a nice feature with the Savage, but the Remington trigger is not bad and can be adjusted if it is too heavy for your taste.
