Remington 870???????????

Question

Do you think I could get a used remington 870 for 250 or under I cant seem to find one. I want one for hunting not the one with the pistol grip.

Were do you think i could get one for that price.

Yeah, answer # 1 is on target for the price and the weirdness of "craigslist". The 870 is a good all around weapon and you should be able to find one in really good shape for less than $200.

About six years ago I bought one for $245.  It was actually new but sold as 'used' because it had been pre-ordered by a customer sight-unseen.  He specified he wanted matte finish with wood and when he saw it he didn't like it.  So he paid for it and traded for a model he did like.  Another surprise after I took my new/used Remington 870 to the range.  It came with a rifled barrel!  I had wanted a smooth short barrel with rifle sights.  I learned that the barrel itself was worth what I paid for the shotgun and so I just kept it as is.  Hmm, now I might just look around for a smooth barrel for this 870.

For about $30 more you can actualy get a new one on sale. I regularly see the Remington 870 Express on sale in my area for $279....  If you want a nice used one you shouldn't have to pay that much. Nice used ones can be had for around $150...... Leave a note on the bulletin board at the gun club, sport shops or even the grocery store bulletin board..... Another thing that you can do is put an add on craigslist in the "wanted" section.... Craigslist has rules about not putting in adds for firearms but I figured a way around it..... Under the wanted section put an add that says "Wanted -- Remington 870" and leave few or no details. DO not put the word guns, 12 gauge, firearm or anything that related to hunting in the add.... The uninformed vegan tree hugger types generally dont have a clue what a remington 870 is so the add wont get bounced for awhile.....

Well, it's always possible to get a used Remington 870 for 250.  For that price, it has to be in pretty good condition or it will be sold with some other items.  One of your relatives or friends might have one that they don't use anymore.  You could check the classified in the newspaper.  In gun friendly areas, some post ads to sell their firearms.  You can check the local gun stores in your area.  It's possible that they have one for sale.  Some of these places sell guns on consignment for their owners.  Are there any pawn shops around?  I have seen some pawn shops that are just loaded with firearms.  They might have the one you're looking for.  If so, try to talk down the price.

I work in a large sporting goods store in Mich.  When we take an 870 in on trade it usually hits the floor at $250.  I sold mine for that amount actually.  Yes, you should be able to find an 870 for $250, but the gun is very popular and you'd be lucky to find one before someone else did.

Good advice by metropol.  I have in front of me a current  flyer from Basspro which lists a Rem 870 new for $269 after rebate.
